Fun Fact: I think faux fur jacket's is where it's at this winter! And this one is from a few years ago, but they keep you really warm and look really chic. I just picked up another one on sale from Guess and they are super amazing and in green and grey faux fur. These shoes are oldies but goodies, they are from 17 years ago.... Wowowwozeee's! They are very mod and 70's and I kinda feel like they are right back in again so I had to break them out and wear them. I'm feeling like a little Witch from the 70's!.... bring on the spell's to make this snow go away!

Happy Ash Wednesday

Happy Ash Wednesday!  The look below is my look for today's mass.  I decided to have some fun and throw in a date night look (top) and a work look for today's leather skirt.  Just to show you can style one piece in many different ways and get that bang for your buck.  The sun was awful while I was taking photos, so please excuse the squinty face.

I also got to try out my new curling iron.  I've been looking for one for a while now and I eventually settled on the Cortex 4 in 1 iron.  You get four barrel sizes, this allows you achieve different curl and wave sizes.  I saw PassionJonesz us it in her videos.  The hair she uses to curl is heavier than mine, so I figured it should work great for me and it did!  I always wondered about Taylor Swift's curls and by using this iron. I know that's what they must use on her hair.

Everything got shut down and we were forced to snuggle up in front of the fire and watch stupid Tv reruns! (so fun!)  I have been layering oversized vests over my jackets as another layer to keep warm but love the tomboy feel!

Dog Shaming Polka Dots

I was asked by a magazine to break up this outfit for a polka dot story for spring.  It's actually something I've been meaning to do for a long time.   I wanted to show how you can create multiple looks out of two identical pieces or twinsies.  Working such a concept could even save you a dollar or two.  I worked with the JIBRI twinsy, but I've seen duos at Asos & Walmart (Alexis Taylor Collection) as well.  One thing I haven't seen is the intense peplum length on any other brand, but JIBRI.  It's awesomeness.  There are probably a thousand and one different combos you can work.  Everything I used was in my closet and really easy to add into the polka dots.

Note the shoes worn in this photo were pre-Shug (pro-nounced like Suge Knight) bad dog moment.  Due to my leaving my shoes on the floor, she decided to chew one of them up.  If you follow me on Instagram (@garnerstyle) you might have already seen Shug's dog shaming.

Fun Fact: Leopard...leopard and more leopard! I can never have enough leopard! ROARRRR! I'm really into purple lips this winter. Its that perfect grungy lip that is so 90's! And I've found it hard to find the right purple because it can make your lips look completely hypothermic if there's not enough red in the base. This one is by Make Up For Ever  #15 and it's ace!

The Belly Grows

I had a lot to say in my head when I knew I was doing this post.
But that was before Beyonce' rocked the Super Bowl Half Time show and then turned out the lights in the Super Dome.
#shutdownmode

Also, ummm...why did I laugh at myself in these pictures!
It sounds weird, especially considering that I'm a "style"blogger but I am not one of those people who looks in the mirror constantly during the course of a day.
So when I saw the pictures and that belly, I had to do some double takes!
When did that happen!
Geesh!
3 months to go!

Dream Girl

Last night, I attended a premier for the indie movie, The Tents.  It's a documentary that tells the story of New York Fashion Week and Bryant Park, from how it got started to how it ended.  I thought the movie was very good, informative, and very entertaining, if you are a fashion-lover or developing an interest in fashion, it's definitely worth seeing.    That's all I'm going to say so I don't spoil anything for anyone.  Check out the trailer here.

Surprisingly enough, I just bought a black dress for the first time in years.  As a woman and a blogger that is plus size, I feel it so important that wear and show a variety of looks in different colors and patterns to dispel any myths that we can't wear this or that.  Sometimes, even without realizing it, I feel that like I have something to prove with my clothes.  It made me overlook the little black dress.  I finally just broke down and bought one, I actually plan on riding this one out for the next half decade.  I coupled this look with just a straight up comb out of my curls.  I felt very Diana Ross.  I wanted to open my hands and say, "oooohhhhh ahhhhhhhh."  LOL.

Outfit:  Dress - JIBRI $250, Belt - Asos $30, Shoes - Target - $30

Our Favorite Winter Pieces!

We have been hardcore winter dressing here in Toronto. And wearing a lot of blouses with sweaters along with suede and leather pants to keep warm. We are still digging a lot of western vibe mixed with a Bart or Mickey Mouse Pop Culture feel. We also love a touch of bright yellow or bright red. Even though we have subdued all the bright colorful dressing for a bit because of the crazy snowstorms, we are still wearing a lot of patterned pants. And mixing it with leopard, faux fur, studs, plaid shirts and cozy sweaters. These are our favorite pieces from our online stores and things we are lusting for. Here we are on the weekend, hangin' out with our Mom and we are all feelin' the western pop vibe!
